A THOUGHTFUL STUDY SPACE

Terms of use

Exegetical is an independent Bible reading and study project operated by Kenneth Robertson. These terms explain the rules for using the reader, account features, profiles and community tools. Effective November 3, 2026.

Using this service

You may read available Bible resources without an account. Accounts and community features are for people aged 16 or older. Use an accurate email address that you control; a nickname is welcome for your display name. Keep your password and signed-in devices secure, and sign out on shared devices. Do not impersonate another person or create accounts to evade a block.

Your writing and pictures

You keep ownership of the original notes, messages and profile material you contribute. You give this service limited permission to store, display and transmit that material only to provide the features you choose, maintain security and review reports. Upload a profile picture only if you have permission to use it. Do not upload private information about another person without their permission.

Friends and messages

Friendship requires acceptance. Profiles are not listed in a public directory; exact-username discovery is optional. A request recipient can see your username, display name and picture. Accepting a request lets that friend see the optional details you put on your profile. Friendships never give access to your private notebook. A note you attach to a message is copied into that conversation. Messages are visible to their participants and authorized service operators, and are not end-to-end encrypted. Recipients can copy or screenshot what you send. Only share material you are comfortable sending.

Responsible participation

Follow the Community guidelines. Do not harass, threaten, exploit, deceive, spam, solicit sensitive information, distribute malware or share unlawful material. Respect differences in biblical interpretation. Reports and privacy requests are reviewed manually. The operator may restrict access or remove content to address abuse, security issues or legal requirements; emergency support is not provided.

Bible resources and copyright

Translations, interlinear datasets, lexical definitions and commentaries have their own rights and attribution requirements. Source and license links appear in the reader. Open access does not mean every resource is public domain. Use the ESV only within Crossway’s terms; sharing through the app sends a verse reference and reading link rather than storing ESV text in messages. Do not scrape or bulk-download restricted translations.

Scripture quotations are from the ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved. The ESV text may not be quoted in any publication made available to the public by a Creative Commons license. The ESV may not be translated into any other language. Users may not copy or download more than 500 verses of the ESV Bible or more than one half of any book of the ESV Bible. ESV.org.

Availability and limitations

This is an evolving service, provided as available. External resources can be incomplete, unavailable or differently numbered. Commentaries represent their authors’ interpretations, and lexical definitions require context. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or the preservation of every record. Use the export controls to keep copies of important work. Nothing in these terms limits rights or responsibilities that applicable law does not allow us to limit.

Leaving and changes

You can export your records, remove profile details, unfriend or block people, and delete your account from Privacy controls. Account deletion removes the account’s app records and conversation messages, including those in recipients’ histories; it cannot remove copies made outside the service. Reports may be retained with account links removed. We will date revised terms here. Contact the operator through the request page about these terms.
